How Foodatron compares foods

The bases, winner rules, and transparency behind every comparison.

Published

Every comparison states its basis, because the basis changes the answer. Foodatron offers three:

  • Equal weight — both foods per 100 g.
  • Common serving — each food at its own typical serving.
  • Equal calories — both foods at a fixed energy budget.

Winner rules

Winners are decided per metric with simple, deterministic rules: more protein wins, less sodium wins, and so on. We do not blend everything into a single “health score.” If a food lacks a measured value for a metric, the result is left indeterminate — missing data never wins or loses by default.

Traceable

Every value carries its source. Comparisons are computed from stored data, so they are reproducible and correct together when a value is updated.
