BMI calculator

Body Mass Index (BMI) estimates body fatness from your weight and height. It’s a quick screening number — not a diagnosis — and doesn’t distinguish muscle from fat.

Fill in the fields above and press Calculate.

How it’s calculated: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². Estimates for educational use — not medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

What is a healthy BMI?
A BMI of 18.5–24.9 is considered a healthy weight for most adults. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30+ is obese.
Is BMI accurate?
BMI is a useful population-level screen but doesn’t measure body fat directly, so it can misclassify muscular athletes or older adults. Pair it with waist size and body-fat estimates.
How is BMI calculated?
BMI = weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. This calculator converts imperial units for you.
